Richard Hammond
An Audience with Richard Hammond

We’re delighted to share the exciting news that TV legend, Richard Hammond, will be joining us on Saturday 26th June to reveal his new classic car restoration business ‘The Smallest Cog’ and share his passion for Classic cars at the Talks Theatre as well as exhibiting some of his current restoration projects at the show.

Fuelled by his passion for old iconic vehicles as well as his desire to support the skilled crafts that created them, Hammond has teamed up with restoration experts, Neil and Anthony Greenhouse, to launch ‘The Smallest Cog’ – a reference to the intricate detail required in the process of restoration rather than pint-sized Richard’s own stature. Even though his fellow friends Jeremy Clarkson and James May suggest otherwise… The Smallest Cog name is to highlight their attention to detail as it will be right down to the smallest cog… and the smallest cog is often the most significant whether it’s in a gear box, engine or differential!

The Smallest Cog’ was inspired by Richard’s grandfather, who was a coachbuilder at Mulliners and Jensen and since Richard always has wanted to prove to him that there is more than driving cars around the word and that he could do something real in the car industry!

The Smallest Cog team have successfully renovated a selection of Richard Hammond’s own collection of classics at their base near Richard’s home in Herefordshire. To showcase the stunning classics, they will have on offer, The Smallest Cog will be exhibiting three (before, during and after) vehicles at show. These vehicles include, a tatty Ford Escort RS2000 project car that Hammond has just purchased at auction, a British sportscar that is mid-renovation and Richard’s own gorgeous Jaguar XK150 that the team has already restored beautifully. In addition, there will be an additional special surprise (or guest) on display too!

Richard Hammond will join another former Top Gear presenter, Tiff Needell, our Talks Theatre host, for what promises to be a hilarious and memorable interview!
